I've curated a new exhibit centered around my favorite subject - Nature. I'm joined by Jennifer Deutscher, Maria Giuliani, and Julia Ruth. With a variety of media, we showcase flora and fauna using botanical and natural science methods, where the subjects are rendered to accurately describe the species in an artistic manner. The work is science based.
The opening reception is Sept. 8, 2018 includes an artist panel discussion and guest speaker Stephen Paul DeVillo, author of The Bronx River in History and Folklore, who will highlight the problem of invasive species along the Bronx River. Over the run of the show: workshops for all ages.
The show runs from September 1 - October 27, 2018 at Poe Park Visitor Center 2640 grand concourse, Bronx 10458 accessible by bus, train, metered parking in area.

07.16.14Workshop: Beatrix Potter and Botanical Art
Beatrix Potter is most known for her children’s books about Peter Rabbit and other animal stories. How did she create such a believable world in which they live? Through observation of the natural world of their environment. While it can take hours to create a perfect reproduction, in this workshop we’ll take our cue from Beatrix Potter to introduce you to botanical illustration and then use the work to create a spot for a children’s book scene. Come join Donna Miskend as she helps children and adults create these works.
